New Orleans, LA (June 9, 2020) — A woman passed away after driving her car off of I-10 into the Superdome parking lot. The crash happened Tuesday night around 3:51 p.m. at the 1500 block of Poydras Street.
According to the New Orleans Police Department, 39-year-old Shannon Jones was heading east on the Pontchartrain Expressway towards the Claiborne exit. She then lost control of her vehicle and hit the guardrail to the right side of her car. This collision caused her to flip off of the interstate into the parking lot of the Superdome.
First responders pronounced Jones dead at the scene of the accident. Police are still investigating the cause of the crash and are unsure why Jones lost control of the vehicle.
