Lafayette, LA (09/04/2020) — National Flood Insurance Program policyholders in Louisiana might be eligible to file a flood damage claim even if their policy has expired.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency extended the NFIP grace period from 30 days to 120 days in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Louisiana residents whose NFIP policy expired between February 13, 2020, and June 15, 2020, and whose properties sustained flood damage from Hurricane Laura remain eligible to renew their policy and file a flood damage claim.
Policyholders should call their insurance agent or the NFIP Call Center at 1-800-427-4661 to renew their policy.
