Humble, TX — Two drivers are dead after a cement spill on a roadway 20 miles north of Houston caused an accident. The accident occurred a little before 5:30 a.m. on Old Humble Road near Bender Road.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office states that a cement truck from Lattimore Materials was leaving its plant when it began to lose wet cement.

Selvin L. Maldonado Palacios, 19, was driving north on Old Humble Road when he drove over the wet concrete. Palacios lost control of his vehicle and jumped the median.

His car hit another vehicle in the southbound lane. The driver of the second vehicle was well-known Houston gospel singer LaTonya Earl, 49. Both drivers died at the scene of the accident.

Police closed down Old Humble Road to investigate the accident and clean up the debris. According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the driver of the cement truck immediately stopped and attempted to aid the victims. The driver is currently cooperating with investigators.
