Houston, TX (May 20, 2020) — A man died Wednesday morning after being hit by a car while running across the Southwest Freeway. The accident happened around 10:40 a.m. near Hillcroft.

According to police, the man, who has not been identified, parked his vehicle on the left shoulder of the southbound lanes of the freeway. They believe he was trying to prevent his car from being towed. The man then ran across the main lanes and was hit by a gray Cadillac DeVille. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene of the crash.

The driver of the Cadillac remained on scene and cooperated with police. The accident is still under investigation and no charges have been filed.
